Kakadu National Park and towards Darwin
Kakadu National Park was a definite highlight so far, Ubirr and Jim Jim falls taking the golden awards. The riding was fantastic despite the relentless head and cross winds, but the scenery was incredible. The early morning cruise on the Yellow river is another thing I will never forget.
The ride into the Northern Territories
The ride into the Northern Territories was really fun but hard at times due to the corrugated, sandy roads as well as long stretch of roads without too much to look at. I met great people along the way, crossed knee deep creeks, hit a lot of corrugations and saw heaps of wildlife
Undura National Park and its lava tubes
Undara National park, volcanic region hosting a unique feature; the lava tubes stretching up to 100kms supporting wildlife and a unique eco-system. A short side trip from the Savannah Way in Northern Queesnland, it’s the only place in the world such phenomenon of this scale can be seen. A definite must-see.
Cape Tribulation
I’ve decided to stay 2 nights in Cap Tribulation (or Cape Trib like everyone says…) so I can relax and enjoy a day of writing and sorting my first set of photos. The internet is 1970’s slow which explains why I grew frustrated waiting 5 minutes for my gmail page to load. I went to…
This is a start!
Well, never start with a hangover. That’s probably the worst way to start that bike ride I reckon! Despite having a good fun the night before, those last few bourbons really hit me hard and were probably the cause my head wanting to explode during the first few hours, the hot sun making it worse.…
Preparation before departure
The date is set: May 22nd. Fly into Cairns, spend a day there then start pushing. It’s been a long time coming this thought of cycling northern Australia, the Kimberley region and then the west coast. The dream is finally becoming a reality and I’m very excited to get started! I’ve sorted my gear out…
Into Ozzy Wine Country
The Easter break gives us 4 days break. I took 2 extra days so I could get out there and test my new pushy, this time around the Hunter Valley for about 400kms over 4 days.
The definite highlight would be the ride from Singleton to Pokolbin State Forest passing through Bulga, Broke and Wollombi. Absolutely beautiful. The images speaks for themselves.
